World Thinking Day 2015

Hi Guides!

World Thinking Day is on 28 February 2015 and there will be some inter-school competitions. The theme for WTD 2015 is “GGS Commemorates SG50 : Celebrating Our Roots”.

Here are the descriptions for the various competitions available. Do read the descriptions and sign up for the competition of your choice through the Google Docs shared to your AHS emails by 1st Dec 2014 (registration is based on first come first serve basis). Once the participants are finalized after 1st Dec, the different groups of participants are required to come up with your proposals by 12 Dec (strictly no time extensions will be given).

Banner Design Competition

3.5m x 1m’ (vertical display) banner
Relevant to theme
Only yellow colored cloth to be used
name of the Coy/Pack and School should be clearly indicated on the banner itself.

All banners must have a margin of 10cm from the edges

For your proposal, a sketch and description of the banner is needed.
[Tips: draw the design onto paper, scan the design into your computer and attach it as an image. Type your description into the proposal.]

Campfire stunt / skit

Not more than 20 girls
2mins long
Relevant to theme
Record the performance in an MP3 format in a DVD and submit the DVD before the closing date.

For your proposal, a brief storyline of your act is required.
[Tips: you do not need to record the performance until your soft-copy proposal has been accepted.]

Dance Competition

12-20 girls
3mins long
Relevant to theme
The dancers must be dancing in a square facing the audience (seated in a campfire circle).
Record the performance in an MP3 format in a DVD and submit the DVD before the closing date.

For your proposal, snippets of the dance moves and also explanations on how it aligns with the theme are needed.
[Tips: Guides who were in the dance competition for EDD 2014 are strongly encouraged to join this competition but all are welcome!]

Yarn

3 min long
Relevant to theme
Entries must be original
Entries should be typed in double spaced with font type Arial size 12 printed out with blank ink on A4 paper.

For your proposal, the storyline and script are needed, include any acting if desired.
[Tips: If any of you don't know, a yarn is telling a story (not the yarn string). Your yarn needs to have a moral of the story. You do not need to print your proposal until it has been accepted. ]

Mini Gateway Competition

design a mini 3 dimensional gateway.
Upon selection, the actual gateway will be built on site for the WTD 2015 event.

For your proposal, a sketch is needed.
[Tips: A gateway is like an entrance/exit to the campfire. Ensure that it would be feasible to be built on the spot.]

Do remember to sign up for the competition of your choice via Google Docs by 1st Dec 2014. The finalized list of participants for each competition will be updated on the Google Docs shared by 2nd Dec 2014. All proposals are to be shared with Joanna ma'am and Aindrae ma'am by 12 Dec 2014 (no time extension!!!). If any of you have any enquiries, contact me (Joanna ma'am).

Cheers!
