Hostess Badge

Hi Sec 1s!

As you know, your Hostess badge test will be conducted this Friday. Hence, in addition to the photographs that were uploaded earlier, below are the clauses of Hostess Badge for your reference!

Clause 1
Entertain the tester, or someone chosen by her, e.g. at morning coffee, afternoon tea, a party, or a suitable Guide event.
*Marks will be awarded as follows:
·        whether the menu served is appropriate (Guides just need to bring ONE food item suitable for the theme afternoon tea)
·        entertainment factor of the host – greetings, making the guests feel welcome, able to strike conversation with ease with the guests etc
·        body language – etiquette in serving the guests, offering food & drinks etc
·        theme-related table lay out

Clause 2




Know, and where possible demonstrate, the chief things to remember when entertaining a guest or guests:
2.1          Coming to stay, e.g. Preparation of room, laying of table etc.
2.2          Coming for a party or similar function. E.g. Invitations, introductions, arrangement of rooms, refreshments, washroom arrangements.
Clause 3
Write letters:
3.1          Inviting to a party or similar event;
3.2          Inviting a friend to stay;
3.3          Accepting an invitation, refusing an invitation (one to be formal).
3.4          Thanking after a visit.
Note:  The tester to select two to be written at the test..
* Marks will be awarded as follows:
- creativity & attractiveness of card (according to theme)
- content of card is relevant & detailed (time, venue, dress code etc)
- language use is appropriate & relevant to the mode of guests.
