Hi Guides! Please read the following carefully:

Sec 1s:
Total Defence Bronze

As mentioned in one of the previous posts, Sec 1s are to complete total defence bronze badge.
Recap on clause 2:

1. Bring any five recycled items (e.g., old newspapers/magazines, glue, string, stapler and sticky tape) and any other relavant items.

2. Construct a model or sculpture that it feels best represents Total Defence, using recycled materials.

3. Prepare a short presentation to explain the concept/ideas behind it

Reader's badge

Sec 1s have yet to complete some clauses of the reader's badge.

Recap on clause 3 & 4:

3. Read books with different headings (4 out of 6) out of the following:
-Science/nature
-Travel/exploration
-A foreign country
-History
-Biography
-A book of poems
-Introduce & share the books read through presentation or comic strip or story board to the rest of the patrol members. You will have to photocopy the cover page of your chosen books.


4. Read aloud a passage of your own choice from a sacred book. E.g. Bible, Buddhist passages. The passage should be at least a page long (font 12).

NOTE: Testing for Total Defence Bronze Badge will be conducted on Monday ( 21/11/2011) Reader's badge will be conducted on Wednesday ( 23/11/2011)



Sec 2s:
Accident Prevention Badge:

1. There will be a test conducted on monday ( 21/11) on accident prevention. Please study for the test using online resources, books etc.

2. In normal combined patrols, you all have to come up with a skit to present on Wednesday ( 23 /11).
Include the following points:

- Know and where possible, demonstrate how to guard against accidents and when using: gas electrical appliances, kerosene stoves, naked lights, open fires.

- Know at least three different ways of preventing accidents:
- When boating and bathing;
- When using public transport, cars and cycles;
- When with animals;
- In high-rise buildings.
