Total Defence Bronze

Part 2 (Hands-on);
Clause 1 (combined patrols): Model Building
- Groupings:
1. Dovechid: Alyssa, Esther, Yuvonne, Celine, Grace
2. Peckxora: April, Clara, Jia Xin, Yi Hui
3. Sunfisher: Hui Ling, Chi Hui, Gracia, Li Qin
4. Spabee: Lim Min, Cai Qin, Jing Xuan, Pei Jun
- Bring
any five recycled items (e.g., old newspapers/magazines, glue, string, stapler and sticky tape) and any other relavant items.
- Construct a model or sculpture that it feels best represents Total Defence, using recycled materials.
- Prepare
a short presentation to explain the concept/ideas behind it.
Clause 2 (individual): Show and Tell
- Bring
an item or picture of an item that pertains to an aspect of Total Defence (military, civil, economic, social, psychological) and do
a short presentation on it.
- Your presentation should cover the following key points:
1. Which aspect(s) of Total Defence is the item related to? How? Why?
2. What is the function/purpose and importance of this item?
3. How is it usually used? Where can it usually be found?
4. How can you use this item to enhance understanding of Total Defence?
- Examples:
1. Military Defence - pictures/ articles on keeping fit
2. Civil Defence - First Aid Kit
3. Economic Defence - energy-efficient light bulb
4. Social Defence - photos of multi-racial groups mixing together
5. Psychological Defence - copy of the national pledge
And any other relevant items
Clause 3 (normal patrols, with some exceptions): Salad Making
- Groupings:
1. Dove: Alyssa, Esther, Yuvonne
2. Orchid: Celine, Grace
3. Flowerpecker: Jia Xin, April
4. Ixora: Yi Hui, Clara
5. Kingfisher: Chi Hui, Gracia
6. Sunflower: Li Qin, Hui Ling
7. Sparrow: Cai Qin, Lim Min
8. Hibiscus: Jing Xuan, Pei Jun
- Come up with a salad to represent Total Defence.
- For example, the salad can be based on the Total Defence logo. Fruit/vegetable can be arranged to form into the shape of a hand and the 5 fingers represent the various types of Defence etc. Up to your own creativity.
- Prepare beforehand on what you are going to do.
- Bring
salad ingredients (e.g. cabbage, carrots, fruits, sauce, etc),
utensils (knife, small chopping board, place to show salad e.g. lunchbox/plate/bowl).
- 20 minutes to prepare your salad in the canteen.

Short presentation describing your salad: Reasons for its shape/image/colour, what it represents, etc.
Readers' Badge
All Sec 1s
Short patrol test:
- Bring the
books you have read and your
blue folder containing all readers' badge relavant items.
- You are required to produce a
short summary on the books you have read on the spot.
- Patrol Leaders will assess.
